Sliding closet door pull installation

Preparation Measure 40 inches up from the bottom edge of the door. Measure the back side of the finger pull, the part that inserts into the door. Replacing your door handles is a simple and effective way to update your home, but it is important to ensure that they will fit with ease and cover any old fixing holes or marks left behind from your old door handles. Flush mount lighting sits directly against the ceiling and shines light downward.

Look for pin holes in the rose or in the lever body itself. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole. Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware.

Once triggered, the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door. Unlike a hinged door, they do not require space to operate. The sleek look of sliding bypass closet doors conceals clothing and keeps storage out of sight.

Although there is nothing preventing you from putting the knob of your bifold door anywhere you like, there is a proper placement for it. The latch bore, also known as the edge bore, is the hole drilled from the side of the door into the cross bore to allow the latch of the lock to be installed and to accommodate the sliding of the deadbolt.

The assistant should hold the upper track in place as you assess its position. Depending on your mode of installation, the track will either be near the front of the door jamb or toward the center. Make sure that you are holding the track in the correct position.

Some tracks may have a front vs. When you are satisfied with the position of the upper track, first pre-drill pilot holes and then screw the track into place. Use the screws provided with the kit. Different screws may protrude too far, impeding the operation of the closet doors. Some sliding closet doors will have a metal or plastic fascia strip that covers the front of the upper track.

Usually, the fascia strip will snap into place. Screw the bottom track onto the floor. If you have solid hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, or vinyl flooring, you can screw it directly onto the flooring.

Screw down the wood board, then screw the track onto the wood. You'll be able to find wood for carpet installation in the trim and millwork section of your local home center or hardware store. Stand inside the closet. Have your assistant tip the first door down to you. Pull the door slightly into the closet. Lift and hook the wheels on top of the door, onto the back groove of the upper track.

Swing the bottom of the door inward, toward the back of the closet. The spring-loaded guides at the bottom of the closet door should depress as they move over the high side of the bottom track. When they reach the track's center groove, they should snap into place. The doors can be adjusted to align properly with the vertical jamb edges. There are usually adjustment screws on the wheel assembly that allow for slight up or down adjustments.

Turning the adjustment screws will cause the door edge to move into alignment with the door jamb. Actively scan device characteristics for identification. Use precise geolocation data. This prevents overdrilling the hole. Lock a Forstner bit the same size as the circular pull into the chuck of your drill. Set the drill speed to rotations per minute rpm if the door is hardwood.

For softwood doors, set the speed to rpm. Hold the drill bit up to the door, lining it up with the edges of the tape. Drill a hole the same depth as the pull measurement into the door. Back the drill bit out of the hole. Clean the dust and debris from the hole and the bit. Hand-sand inside the hole with grit sandpaper to remove any splinters that might interfere with how the pull fits. Insert the finger pull to test the fit. Use the pull as is or remove it and apply a small bead of adhesive around the edge before reinserting.

Hold the pull up to the door, lining it up with the edges of the tape, and trace around the outer edge. Remove the door from its tracks or hinges and lay it on a steady, level work surface.
