Factions form among the members of Earth as well as the monsters attacking them, totaling four monster factions. Choices within the story affect later events, including the relationships between Earth factions and the monster ones.
The Vortaak , returning from the previous games, choose to invade and use the crystals to seize Earth, but their mothership is knocked into San Francisco bay. It is revealed in the finale that the source of the crystals is from SpaceGodzilla trying to escape the alternate dimension he was imprisoned in at the end of Save the Earth.
There are four five as alternate endings based on the factions; if one wins as an alien, Vorticia cackles maniacally in victory. If one wins as a mutant, the crystals spread at a cancerous rate, proliferating out of control. If SpaceGodzilla wins, the Mutant ending commences, except that SpaceGodzilla is subsequently seen letting out a victory roar. If the GDF or Earth Defenders win, the player's monster is thanked for their bravery as the world returns to normal.
If the Earth Defenders, GDF, or Alien acquires all the power surges, Miku said that the monster became corrupted and it was the only hope. Contrary to popular belief, It doesn't have alternate endings yet in which an Alien or Mutant turns face and saves the Earth essentially false rumors. Monsters enter Critical Mass by destroying the crystals scattered around the stages and filling up the "Critical Meter.
When the Critical Meter is filled, the monster enters Critical Mass. While in Critical Mass, the monsters' bodies increase in size and become covered in glowing red lines, greatly resembling Godzilla's burning form from Godzilla vs.
They deal significantly more damage at the cost of their defense. As "punishment" for resorting to Critical Mass, one cell of the monster's HP is depleted when the monster exits Critical Mass unless the cell is the last one.
Unleashed has also replaced the Rage Attacks of the previous games with "Power Surges;" super-powerful attacks and abilities that can only be used once per battle. You earn these from the single-player mode, and can't use them in multiplayer until you have unlocked them from the single-player mode. During the Story Mode of the game, you encounter monsters that have been given strange powers by the crystals. You can either defeat the monster and gain that power for yourself, or you can free the monster by destroying the crystals.
When the Surge wears off, the player can set off a Nuclear Pulse-like shockwave to deactivate it. Anyone monster can have several Power Surges. Initially, it was believed that there were monster-specific Surges, but since the release of the game, it has been revealed that the Surges are available for all monsters. Military presence is displayed in the game through various vehicles shown at the periphery of battle.
There is a slider in the Options menu that allows the player to adjust the amount of military presence in the levels. These vehicles attack the monster that poses the greatest threat to the city. The Gotengo , or as it is called in the game, "Atoragon," is a boss battleship: Admiral Gyozen, the pilot of the Atoragon is driven to insanity through his hatred towards monsters and the radiation from the crystals. Changes were also made to the combat system for the Wii version. The PS2 version still has the old meter system, while the Wii version has a cell system.
Each monster has a certain amount of health cells the default is five; larger monsters such as King Ghidorah, Spacegodzilla, and Biollante have six cells, while smaller monsters like Rodan, Baragon, and MOGUERA have four; regardless of difficulty level, Titanosaurus will always have five cells in Story Mode. When the health bar is depleted, a cell is lost, and the next cell replenishes the bar. Once the last cell is depleted, the monster will be KO'd.
The energy system also uses the new cells, with the default starting amount being two cells Jet Jaguar starts with four to compensate for the weakness of his beam. Beam weapons can no longer be used to KO a monster except for the Showa and Heisei Mechagodzillas, for some odd reason.
Earth Defenders see the crystals as a blight on nature and must destroy them to preserve Monster Island and Earth as a whole.
They will mercilessly attack mankind if provoked but are willing to team up with humans to face larger threats. However alien mind-control and the crystal's corrupting energies are causing some kaiju to attack each other. The Global Defense Force has built many mechs to defend mankind. Originally these mechs were piloted by humans but now powered by electric autonomous brains, which make them vulnerable to the crystals.
Hell, they could have even based it on the most recent Godzilla movie and I think that could have worked pretty well. The people behind the game captured the Godzilla universe very well. Each of the monsters looks just like you would expect them to. The levels may not be all that detailed, but I think this is by design so that all of the attention is focused firmly on Godzilla and his foes and allies!
One thing that you do have to give them credit for is the game modes. Despite the lack of a story mode, I do feel that Godzilla has enough modes to keep you entertained.
The main game mode is called, God of Destruction and this is where you will unlock the characters as you progress. Each level is its own contained thing, you will either have to smash a city, protect generators, destroy generators or fight off another monster. You also have an online battle mode, this is fun, but I feel this game would have been perfect for couch co-op. It has a time attack mode and a few modes where you can look and play around with the monsters too. I can see why this can take a while to get used to and it is probably slower-paced than many people want.
However, these are giant monsters so the way that they move does feel pretty fitting and I got used to it. There are over 20 monsters from the Godzilla franchise here and they each control in the same way, but then they each have their own set of special moves.
The game is a tad on the sluggish side, but it is certainly playable once you get used to it. Look, I can see why some people had a hard time getting into this Godzilla game. However, there is fun to be had here.
I grew up watching the old Godzilla movies and I think this game is a fun take on that and far better than is a fun take on that and far better than people give it credit for. It does take a while to get the controls down, but once you do, you will feel just as powerful as Godzilla himself!
I am a big fan of rubber monsters myself, and this game was a great thrill for me. All of Godzilla's foes, except for Ebirha the sea monster, are here. Each monster has its own voice digitized from the movies, and the backgrounds are authentic as well. Many of the moves seem random, and the actual punches and kicks are few. I like being able to play as the Super X2. Versus Mode is fantastic! I've never liked the Godzilla flicks and this game doesn't do much more for me.
As it stands, it's a limited fighting game with a lack of special moves and bad control. The attacks do fit the characters, though, plus the music and sounds help the aura of the game. The access time is almost nil so there's no problem there. Fighting games are becoming too commonplace and this game is geared toward movie lovers only. This is a new twist to fighting games. It's loaded with plenty of Godzilla's enemies as well as the famed fire-breather himself that you can choose to fight with or against.
The graphics are OK and the music is cool. The Quest Mode along with the Versus Mode is a plus. The only thing I didn't like was that there aren't enough moves, a limit placed by the Duo's two button controller. Godzilla fans will totally dig this. Fighting fans may not be impressed by the number of moves or the effects, but it does play decently.
The techniques look a bit weak but are easy to control and lit the characters to a tee. Destoroyah , and deal more damage. Godzilla: Unleashed is a 3D fighting video game based on the Godzilla film franchise. There were also plans to use WiiConnect24 support for downloading. Players: 2 Simultaneous. File size: MB. Publisher: Atari.

Monsters can also use one of seven 'Power Surges', which are temporary abilities that can be used only once per battle, per monster. Surges increase certain traits, like for example the Fire Surge increases damage dealt and Speed Surge increases speed.
They can also decrease abilities like Shield Surge, which increases defense while slowing movement. Others can improve and damage others like Radiation Surge that improves health regeneration while impairing that of nearby monsters. Before the Surge is over, monsters can release a powerful shockwave attack.
In the single player Story Mode, multiple Power Surges can be collected through defeating an enemy monster afflicted with the Surge. Both will attack certain monsters each time.
Monsters are attacked on differing circumstances. For example Global Defense Force monsters will be attacked by humans if they go out their way to destroy human buildings and military units being on the same side. The same goes for Alien monsters and the Vortaak. Destruction of crystals and use of Power Surges and Critical Mass can also affect military attitude towards certain monsters.
Unleashed takes place twenty years after Godzilla: Save the Earth , beginning when a meteor shower causes climate shifts and earthquakes. Simultaneously, monsters of Earth begin attacking cities across the globe as a result of crystals growing on the ground. Factions form among the members of Earth as well as the monsters attacking them, totaling four monster factions.
Choices within the story affect later events, including the relationships between Earth factions and the monster ones. The Vortaak, returning from the previous games, choose to invade and use the crystals to seize Earth, but their mothership was knocked into the San Francisco Bay.
It is revealed in the finale that the source of the crystals was SpaceGodzilla trying to escape his interdimensional prison that he was trapped in at the end of Save the Earth.
The game has four different endings depending on what faction you are on.
